I would like to dedicate this blog to nutrition habits that will change your life. That is, you can change your life by incorporating these habits into your daily routine. These tricks are so simple you might wonder if they are actually effective. But trust me, once you develop these habits you’ll be glad you did. Just keep in mind it takes awhile for your life to change.
Incorporating nutrition habits into your lifestyle is about knowing what gets your body functioning at peak level. In reading this blog, consider your current nutrition habits. How often do you eat? Do you skip breakfast? How much water do you drink in a day? How much sleep do you get? Really evaluate yourself before reading on.
I think you guys will like the first healthy habit on the list.
Stop Dieting. Fad diets are basically all the same. Most incorporate some sort of low fat and carb eating habit and a lot of them tend to make you burned out on nutrition by putting severe restrictions on your diet. Instead of going along with the latest diet trend, educate yourself on what real healthy eating is. Stock up on your favorite super foods and slowly push junk food and sweets out of your life.
Sleep. You might not consider this one a nutrition habit but oh boy is this a bit one. I’ve had clients that lived off a diet of kale and cinnamon water (slight exaggeration but you get the point) who couldn’t drop a pound because they never slept. A study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine showed that after only four nights of 4 hours of sleep each night, healthy participants were made resistant to insulin. This condition commonly precede weight gain, diabetes and other health problems. In contrast, getting a good night’s sleep ( 7-9 hours) has been proven to help your body lose more fat than those who don’t sleep enough.
DRINK ENOUGH WATER. Hardly anyone drinks enough water throughout the day, but this is literally one of the best things you can do for your metabolism. Research has found time and time again that those who drink 8 to 12 glasses of water a day had higher metabolic rates than those who only drink say 3 or 4. ( thought 4 was enough didn’t ya? ) 8 ounces, eight times a day and you’ll feel your metabolism rev up.
Don’t skip meals. Some people think skipping meals is the way to lose weight fast, but that weight comes in the form of shrinking muscles! You need those muscles burn fat and look royal so just think of that next time you are tempted to skip a meal. Besides muscle loss, you will run low on the nutrients you need to workout, be attentive at work, and maintain a good mood. Making up for the missed meal by grabbing a combo at the first fast food joint you see is another common side effect. So instead of tumbling down that dangerous road, plan out (or even prepare ahead) three high protein meals for the day that will help you maintain and build those beautiful muscles.
Practice these habits and I guarantee you will see results. Also, remember that wherever you are on the nutrition journey, you’re a rock star.
